Restoration in Progress!

Work to Date

Several Streams of Work

Funding has come through and the Village will start to remove Norway maple and ailanthus trees near trails and erect deer exclosure fencing. Volunteers surveyed invasive trees and are removing invasive shrubs and planting native trees and flowers. We've installed a kiosk at the Chemka Pool entrance with a new map by Adam Hart and information about Hillside Woods and this project. Volunteers have re-blazed the trail system. We've built this website.

And we're tracking our work! From invasive species removals, to tree surveys, to replanting, volunteers are logging the data using EpiCollect5, which we then map to Google Maps. Explore some of our work below, and join us! Volunteers welcome!
