The transportation sector is a significant producer of greenhouse gas emissions, and the Village of Hastings-on-Hudson is working to address this. 

• Learn about what Hastings has done to date through updating policies and public education. 

• Hastings' Climate Smart Communities Task Force is producing a Climate Action Plan which includes transit and transportation recommendations. 

• Learn about the Route 9 Project, which aims to make Broadway pedestrian and bike-friendly from Hastings to Sleepy Hollow. This is a multi-year, multi-municipality effort with NYSDOT, which has purview over the road.

Buying a new car? 

• Federal incentives for purchasing EVs were dismantled on September 30, 2025

  • • • You may still qualify for a state rebate.

      • You can also get rebates for installing an EV charger

      • And, get reduced nighttime charging rates through ConEd.

  • If you're a Hastings resident and you purchase(d) a EV after June, 2023, you automatically help the Village qualify for grants through Climate Smart Communities points.
